The Silent Companions

Some doors are locked for a reason…

When Elsie became the bride of the charming heir, Rupert Bainbridge, she pictured a grand future for the two of them. However, her dreams are shattered as she finds herself a pregnant widow shortly after their nuptials.

Faced with the animosity of new servants and the hostility of the neighboring villagers, Elsie’s only companion seems to be her late husband’s uneasy cousin. However, Elsie discovers a sealed door within her new abode, behind which lies a carved wooden figure—a silent companion—that eerily resembles her. The servants are terrified of it, but Elsie dismisses their fear as mere superstition…until she notices the figure’s eyes trailing her movements.
